Profile
I teach U.S. History at Amherst College and have published a biography of Louisa May Alcott, a book on women's moral values in early America, and am working on a biography of Mary Ball Washington (George's mother). In my women's history survey, students contribute articles on women and gender to Wikipedia. I also teach a course on human rights and a course on criminal justice in the Northampton Jail in the Inside/Out program.
